Enabling the App Embed
How to enable FormSentry's storefront script in your Shopify theme editor.
The app embed is a lightweight script that FormSentry injects into your storefront. It monitors form submissions and sends them through the spam detection pipeline. Without it enabled, FormSentry can’t protect your forms.
How to Enable
From the FormSentry Dashboard
The easiest way is from the onboarding screen:
- Open FormSentry in your Shopify admin.
- Click the Enable the App Embed button.
- You’ll be taken directly to your theme editor with FormSentry’s toggle highlighted.
- Make sure the toggle is on, then click Save.
- Return to FormSentry. The dashboard will automatically detect that the embed is active.
From the Theme Editor Directly
- In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
- Click Customize on your active theme.
- In the left sidebar, click App Embeds (the puzzle piece icon at the bottom).
- Find FormSentry in the list and toggle it on.
- Click Save.
How It Works
When enabled, the embed script is injected into the <head> of every page on your storefront. It:
- Detects contact forms and blog comment forms automatically (smart detection)
- Collects behavioral signals (mouse movement, typing patterns, timing)
- Intercepts form submissions and sends them to FormSentry for analysis
- Blocks submissions that are identified as spam
- Allows legitimate submissions through to Shopify normally
Performance
The embed script is small and loads asynchronously. It does not block page rendering or affect your store’s load time. Your PageSpeed and Core Web Vitals scores will not be impacted.
Disabling the Embed
To temporarily stop FormSentry from monitoring your forms:
- Go to your theme editor → App Embeds.
- Toggle FormSentry off.
- Click Save.
Your settings and submission history are preserved. Re-enable the embed at any time to resume protection.
