Getting Started

FormSentry protects your Shopify storefront forms from spam. It works automatically in the background. No CAPTCHAs, no code changes, and no impact on your customers.

Requirements

• An active Shopify store on any plan
• One or more supported form types on your storefront (see Supported forms)

Installation

1. Find FormSentry in the Shopify App Store and click Install.
2. Approve the required permissions. FormSentry only requests access to read theme data and process form submissions.
3. After installation, you’ll be redirected to the FormSentry dashboard inside your Shopify admin.

Enable the App Embed

After installing, you need to enable the FormSentry app embed in your theme. This is the script that monitors your forms for spam.

1. In the FormSentry dashboard, click Enable the App Embed. This opens your theme editor.
2. In the theme editor, make sure the FormSentry toggle is turned on under App Embeds.
3. Click Save.

That’s it. Your store is now protected. FormSentry will automatically detect and monitor every supported form on your storefront.

Supported forms

FormSentry automatically detects and protects the following form types. No per-form configuration required.

Native Shopify forms

• Contact page forms — the built-in /contact form rendered by your theme
• Blog comment forms — comment forms on blog post pages

Shopify Forms app

Forms built with Shopify’s official Forms app, including popups, floating widgets, and inline section blocks. Protection is applied even though these forms render inside a shadow DOM.

Third-party form builders

FormSentry hooks into popular Shopify form-builder apps so your custom contact, quote, and lead-capture forms are protected the same way native forms are.

More form-builder integrations are on the way. If you use a builder that isn’t listed, let us know and we’ll prioritize it.

Custom theme forms

If your theme uses a custom form that FormSentry doesn’t detect automatically, you can point the app at it using CSS selectors in the embed settings.

Not supported

Hosted form services like Typeform, JotForm, and Google Forms submit directly to the provider from an iframe or external page, so FormSentry cannot see or protect them.

What Happens Next

Once enabled, every form submission on your storefront goes through FormSentry’s detection pipeline before reaching your inbox. Spam gets blocked, and legitimate messages come through normally.

You can monitor everything from your dashboard, adjust sensitivity settings, or fine-tune which forms are protected in the embed settings.
